Delta Classic for Literacy Campaign a Growing Success Oct. 25, 2007

The Delta Classic for Literacy was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization for the purpose of drawing attention to the role of illiteracy in the economic and social crisis of the Mississippi Delta. The organization raises money to fund literacy programs in the Delta and around the state by hosting a “classic” football game between two historically black colleges (HBCU’s) – Grambling State University (Louisiana) and the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Aristotle has made an investment in the Delta Classic and has served as the organization’s marketing, advertising and public relations agency since its inception. Materials and services provided include strategic planning, event management, and design and production of all materials including broadcast and print advertising, sponsor recruitment materials, brochures, tickets, game programs, posters, website, and more.
The results have been dramatic. In its second year (2007) the Delta Classic drew over 40,000 people, making it by far the largest Classic ever played in the state and among the largest in the nation. Significantly, the 2007 attendance outperformed 2006 attendance by approximately 10,000 attendees allowing the Delta Classic to provide a greater level of funding for literacy programs and scholarships.
