Site Launch: Central AR Library System
May. 26, 2011
Aristotle Interactive launched a beautiful redesign for the Central Arkansas Library System
. The Central Arkansas Library System is headquartered in downtown Little Rock, AR, and serves the state as the largest library in Arkansas with twelve library branches in cities such as Jacksonville, Sherwood, Maumelle, and Perryville. Through its Gateway Project, the CALS caters to nearly one million users and contains over 850,000 volumes. In 2010 alone, over two million people visited a CALS branch.
The Central Arkansas Library System had a number of goals in mind with this website redesign. They wanted more independent control with updates to the website without having to learn a great deal of web development programming and jargon. They also wanted to encourage more engagement from the community and reach out to a wider audience. With these goals inmind, Aristotle Interactive created many wonderful additions.
One of the most amazing features is the events calendar. Our skilled production team, artists, and programmers created a calendar that can be customized by all of the twelve branches through Aristotle Interactive's own Content Management System (CMS) that was built for the CALS.On the main page a sophisticated window transitions automatically or at the user's preference. This slideshow features upcoming events or news that can be customized by the client through the CMS. A “Teens” and “Kids” section of the site were created to reach out to the CALS's younger audience. The sections are designed uniquely to appeal to the specific demographics
Overall, the site is a wonderful achievement for not only the Central Arkansas Library System, but also for Aristotle Interactive. We are proud to have been a part of the redesign of a website that nurtures the minds of our fellow Arkansans one book at a time.
